Text-to-Speech Web Reader

Listen to any web article with natural-sounding voices. Features real-time word highlighting, auto-scroll, adjustable speed, and 30+ voice options.

Transform your entire web reading experience with the Text-to-Speech Web Reader, an advanced TTS engine built directly into your browser through ChromePilot. Whether you want to rest your eyes after a long screen session, productively multitask, or simply prefer listening over reading, this feature instantly converts any article, blog post, or long-form webpage into a natural, human-like audio stream.

Getting Started with Text-to-Speech

1. Enable the Feature: Open the ChromePilot Extension Settings page and ensure that the "Speechify" reader toggle is switched ON. Once enabled, a small play button icon will appear on supported web pages.

2. Global Language Support: The text-to-speech engine can read content in almost any language, providing a seamless, natural-sounding listening experience for international articles and multilingual content.

3. Customizing Your Voice: Choose from over 30 natural-sounding voice options spanning different accents and styles. To change the active voice, click on Voice Mode in the ChromePilot sidebar and then click the orb at the center to browse and select your preferred persona.

Instant, Gapless Audio Playback

Unlike traditional text-to-speech tools that require processing the entire page before playback begins, ChromePilot's reader uses streaming audio generation. Simply hover over any paragraph on a webpage, click the play button, and clear, natural audio starts streaming instantly—no loading screens, no delays, and no awkward gaps between sentences.

Real-Time Word Highlighting & Auto-Scroll

Never lose your place in an article again. As the voice reads the content, the Web Reader highlights the currently active word in real-time directly on the page. The browser will even automatically scroll to keep the active sentence centered in your view, providing a fully immersive, synchronized reading-and-listening experience that dramatically improves comprehension and retention.

Adjustable Playback Speed & Smart Content Filters

Take full control of your listening experience. Adjust the playback speed anywhere from 0.5x (for detailed comprehension) up to 2.0x (for speed listening)—all without any unnatural robotic voice distortion. Additionally, the smart content filter automatically skips distracting page elements like navigation menus, headers, footers, cookie banners, and sidebars, so you only hear the actual article body.

Popular Use Cases for Web Text-to-Speech

Multitask Like a Pro: Listen to long-form articles, daily news briefings, technical documentation, or extensive research papers while you commute, exercise, cook, or work on other tasks.

Enhanced Accessibility: An essential tool for visually impaired users, people with dyslexia, or anyone experiencing screen fatigue—making the entire web a more inclusive, accessible auditory experience.

Language Learning & Pronunciation: Hearing words highlighted and spoken simultaneously in their natural pronunciation significantly aids language learners with reading comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and correct pronunciation.
